IVANOV
+ CHAN exhibition @ Mal- und Zeichenschule Wladimir Prib in
Berlin, 10.05.2008
painting - Installation - performance "The Circle"
was produced on the site
“The Circle" was painted in Berlin. It is the first
work of a developing series of panoramic paintings. The following
ones will be performed in various locations: in my studio
in Papa Westray, on the small deserted island in Northern
Sea, in London, in Barcelona and wherever “The Circle”
will bring me
"The
Circle" is a crossover of nomadic tents and broch of
the north
"The
Circle" is a trance -paintings – a spinning shaman’s
dance in enclosed space
"The
Circle" is a 24-hours non-stop performance without public
"The
Circle" is a continuous repetitive process of making
marks on a canvas, with a growing intensity when each previous
mark is creating the move for the following one, and not letting
to stop the process, and density is increasing and forcing
to continue the dance
When”
The Circle" is finished it can be experienced as an interactive
construction on the site.
An exterior of “The Circle” is transforming the
site and affecting the room, or landscape in various way.
An interior of “The Circle” is a shelter, a womb,
cut away from the site. "The Silent Bell" is ready
to go on at any moment. An endless panoramic writing
When”
The Circle" is unfolded it’s like a huge open up
dissected animal. May be some thing else. I’m still
searching for the right name.
Some
"The Circles" will be shown unfolded, some closed |
