THE
SECOND CIRCLE IS COMPLETED. 4.09.2008 @ ARTIST'S STUDIO. PAPA
WESTRAY
24 hours non-stop production process as an attempt to establish
connection between the painting and surrounding environment
- the island Papa Westray. Painting started as black and white
but soon earthy pigment and oxides of iron were introduced.
Although it wasn't the idea to imitate colour pallet of the
island those pigments were selected in the process together
with less structured choreography of lines.
Thinking about the landscape of the island: wind, sound and
movement of the sea are becoming the main features against as
fixed elements.. but it's always the feeling that nothing is
fixed here. No trees. open flat land extends into the open sea
and everything is moving. Grass shaped by the wind. Ruins covered
by yellow lichen are moving, crumbling - stones are moving too.
Slow animals in the fields. Fast birds. Horizontal Rain.
In the next few year i'm planning to continue work on "Circle"
project in different location.
24 hours time limit is an important part of the project as most
of my paintings produced in the studio are evolving during the
year and more related to the seasonal changes

The
Year started with a preparation of surfaces for new works and
adding last touches to some paintings from 2007.
New paintings will be based on six Bach Cello Suites connected
with landscape of the island - so now I'm listening the music
and watching sky and waves. I’m always approaching painting
as a written, or build surface. This time I'll try to approach
it as a played, or performed surface. Colour is not as relevant
as action in this game. i want to be surprised with a result.
Some
odd works are happening on the way. Assemblages – Sketches
